Reading List

I have said it before, and I will say it again, I read a lot!  I am always looking for new books to add to my to-read list and am asking friends for recommendations.  I recently was browsing through free books that amazon.com offers for my kindle.  I noticed that many of the classics that I have never read are offered for free...this got me thinking.  I have run across the BBC list of must read books before but never paid much attention to them, so I have decided to make that my new reading list when I need a new book.  Not only will it make me well read, but they are free and they must be good if they are classics.  I still want to read some newer stuff in between the classics, but it will be nice to get an appreciation for the classic books (and the next time someone sends the BBC list around facebook, I will be able to mark off that I have read them all).

Kindle

A few weeks ago, my friend Andrew bought me a Kindle.  He knows that I love to read and thought that it would be something that I would enjoy.  I was a little hesitant at first.  I liked the idea of an eReader, but wasn't sure I was ready for one.  I am not always the first to grab at the latest technology and I was skeptical of it.  I know that eReaders have been around for some time, but for me, they still seemed too "new".  I thought for sure I would miss reading a paper book and wouldn't be able to adapt to reading on a little tablet.

To say the least I LOVE IT!!!  I finished my first book last week.  As soon as I was done, I went to read a real book from the library and couldn't do it.  I love that the Kindle is so small and lightweight.  I prefer to read in bed before falling asleep and it is so much easier to hold my little Kindle than a thick hard cover book.  The only downfall so far is that not all books are offered for the Kindle.  I wanted to read the final book of an older series I have been enjoying and it isn't yet available.  However, I am sure more books will become available as the eReader popularity grows.

I still will attempt to read and take advantage of the library books that I have grown accustomed to.  The library is great and FREE.  But, I do enjoy my Kindle and know that my bookcases will no longer continue to fill up with paperback books as any books that I decided to purchase from here on out will be in the digital format.

Summer Reading

Most people that know me may know that I am an avid reader.  I love books!  Some people have shoe addictions, I think that I have a book addiction.  I love spending sunny summer days in my backyard laying out with a good book.  I would much rather curl up with a book then relax in front of the TV.

This summer, I have been reading a lot.  It's a way for me to escape into a different place and turn my overactive mind off.  If I am having a bad day, I can start a book and escape from the issues that surround my life.  That being said, I am always looking for book recommendations.  So, if you know of any good books, please let me know.

Also, for other readers out there, check out the website www.goodreads.com.  It is great!  I use it to track my reading and reading that my friends are doing.  Alright, enough about my addiction for now, I have a book to finish.
