One of the things that I do with clients is create goals. When they first come into the program, we sit with them and make short and long term goals. Then, every time we meet we set small tasks that eventually lead to completion of the larger goal. Right now, my life is a little chaotic and I often don't feel like I am working towards the larger goals that I would like to achieve. So, I am making a 5 year plan. The hope is to work on all my goals and slowly accomplish each long term goal. I know some will take longer than others, but hopefully writing them out will give me guidance and a purpose. My goals are going to focus on five realms, one for each year. They are: career, health, family, financial and home.
Career: One thing I have been doing is working on my education which will lead to my goal of finding a job I love. I want to continue my education and graduate in April. My ultimate goal is to become a licensed social worker and find a rewarding career making a difference. Right now, I don't know where that will be but I will go through the doors that open for me and find a job where I fit. Goal: become a licensed social worker.
Health: I need to become healthier both mentally and physically. Right now, due to my work and school schedule, my health is at an all time low. I know that I need to start eating better and working out consistently. Also, I sometimes feel that if I was a better runner, I would be able to connect to my parents better. It's what they enjoy and maybe if I was healthier they would be more proud of me. I also know that I need to start managing my mental health better as well. Especially getting into the social work field, I know that self care is critical and have not been coping well. Overall, I know that being healthier will effect my life positively in more than one area of living. Goal: Run a marathon.
Family: I want to have a family of my own. And, I don't want to not have a family just because I am single. So, once I get more financially settled and finish my education, I want to start looking at options to become a mother. As of now, I have taken all of the required courses to be a foster parent, so it is just a matter of if I want to foster, adopt, or try and have one of my own. I know this is a HUGE decision and will need careful consideration, but at the same time I know that I want to be a parent. Goal: Be a mom.
Financial: I haven't always been the best with my finances and this is something that I need to work on. I know that I want to start being more financially stable as I will need to repay my student loans and would like to eventually be able to get a new car and be financially comfortable. I also want to look at the long-long-term and start planning for my retirement again. Goal: Stop living paycheck to paycheck.
Home: I know it may be sometime before I can purchase home again, but it is something that I ultimately want to do. In the meantime, I want to get out of my apartment living and live in a house again. I know that Zeus, Clubber and Rocky all miss having a yard, and I would like to live somewhere where I am happy to come home to at the end of the day. It would also be nice to live in a place where I feel safe. Goal: Move into a home.

Quick Update
I know, I have been bad and haven't posted for over a month. I will try and give a quick update on all that has happened:
* My house sold!
* I moved into a two bedroom apartment
* I finished another quarter of school (only summer and fall, then have to decide where to go for MSW...UWT or many USC???)
* I got to go to Vegas with my mom and grandma for Tricia's wedding
* I'm taking Belly Dancing classes once a week (I LOVE THEM!!)
Um, I guess, that is all for now. Work is keeping me busy during the day and I am actually hoping to get an evening/weekend job to earn a little extra during the summer since I am only taking two classes online.

New Doors
So, the kittens LOVE to play in my office and started to make a mess of my scrapbook material. I have had doors ready to installed for years, but never felt confident enough to have them installed. Finally, I got the courage to rip out my old frame and put up my new doors.
I love how they turned out and can't believe that I waited so long to put them up.

First Snow!
This morning I woke up to our first true snow. Yesterday morning, we had a light dusting, but not much.
The weatherman had predicted some snow flurries today, but I was surprised when I woke up to see a couple inches on the ground. On top of that, it snowed all day today. Luckily, the roads weren't too bad. But, it is suppose to get cold and stay cold all day tomorrow so that will be interesting.
I have to admit, I do love it though. It is fun living in a place where we actually have seasons. And, having the snow makes it feel more wintery. It is really pretty too to see everything covered in white and being able to bindle up and feel the crisp air.

What I find interesting is how much of a big deal the snow is for everyone. I mean the news is going crazy with "storm coverage". But, it snows every year, so I don't really get what the big deal is. I mean I know the snow is early, and we are expected to have a hard winter, but come on. A couple inches isn't that big of a deal.

Work Weekend
On Tuesday, my realtor is coming to take pictures of my house so we can put it on the market. In preparation for her visit, I realized I had a TON of work that needed to be done. Luckily, my mom offered to come down for the weekend to help me get my house in order.
Before she showed up on Friday night, I was able to get my bedroom, master bath and closet organized. I also had worked on my kitchen some and put some items aside that I was ready to pack. My mom arrived around 8:30 on Friday and was surprised about the work that I completed. We took a quick trip to Walmart so she could get coffee creamer, did some minor work in the house and chatted a little bit before heading to bed.
On Saturday morning, we starting rearranging some items inside me house so it would show better. Then, we decided to conquer the front yard since the first impression is the most important and we wanted to make sure the front looked nice. The weather forecast was that it was suppose to rain all weekend and there was a break in the weather, so we wanted to take advantage of that. We started with some weeding and pruning. We managed to fill up the entire bed of my mom's truck with yard waste. Then, we headed to the dump to empty the truck, got some coffee to refuel and picked up 1/2 yard of beauty bark. When we got back to the house, we thought that rain was imminent so my mom worked on unloading and spreading the beauty bark in the front while I headed to the back yard for a quick mow. We were lucky as I was able to get the back yard mowed and just as we were unloading the last bit of bark, it started to rain. We figured that was our cue to head into the house.
We both cleaned up and then worked on the inside of the house some more. I had a couple things I wanted to get from the store for the house and after a hard day at work decided to head out to dinner. Right as we were leaving, my friend showed up for a quick visit and was surprised how different the front yard looked. We decided on Applebee's for dinner and then went to Walmart after for my few items. Once back at home, we did some more cleaning, rearranging and packing before heading to bed exhausted.
On Sunday, we woke up to rain again. I made gluten-free waffles for breakfast that we ate with some of my homemade apple butter. Yummy! Then, we packed a couple boxes, hung some pictures and made a fake bed in my guest room. After getting some things done in the house, we decided we needed to get to work on the back yard. We needed a little bit more bark for the front so headed out, stopped for coffee on the way and then got another 1/2 yard of bark. On the drive back to my house, the heavy rain started to lighten up and by the time we got home, it had stopped completely. I filled buckets with bark as my mom unloaded them into the garden. Once the front was completed, we headed into the back yard.
Since it's the end of the season, a lot of my flowers needed to be pruned back. My mom worked on pruning while I tried to get some weeds pulled. We filled my entire yard cart container and then some with garden waste. I then backed the truck up into the side yard so we could empty the rest of the bark into my back flower bed. As soon as the truck was empty from bark, we began filling it up again. We put in some remaining yard waste first and then started loading it up with random wood and metal. Terry was a little bit of a hoarder when it came to random crap. He would keep junk that "we may be able to use for something one day", but never, ever used. And, he was nice enough to leave all of this garbage for me to deal with now. I didn't want to leave it for whomever may be moving here, so my mom and I loaded it all into her truck. All that remains now is some longer pieces of metal that wouldn't fit in the bed of the truck and a tire. Not too bad when you consider how much there was to start with. As soon as we came inside for showers, it started to pour again. I must say, someone was helping us out this weekend with the weather.
And some work in progress pictures:
We (or at least I) was totally filthy, so we came in for showers. My mom was heading home and we decided to have an early Mexican dinner before she left since we worked through lunch and were both famished. At the restaurant we decided to share taquitos and fajitas. So, I ordered chicken taquitos and the waiter came back to confirm mexican taquitos... Really?! Are there that many types of taquitos that he had to confirm we wanted Mexican taquitos in a Mexican restaurant? We both thought it was funny and tried to think of what a Chinese, Italian and Hawaiian taquitos would be.
Overall, it was a fun, busy, exhausting weekend. I know I am a little sore today and am amazed by how different things look. The hard work was definitely worth it. I wish I had take some additional before pictures for comparison but take my word, it is a huge difference! Now, I only have a short list of things to do before Tuesday afternoon. I am glad my mom was able to come down as I couldn't have done it without her.

Fingers Crossed
So, I finally got my act together and decided to talk to my mortgage company about my house situation. I want to do whatever I can to prevent a foreclosure and wasn't really sure where to start. It turns out that the mortgage company doesn't do anything, I need to work directly with a realtor to do a short sale on my house. After a really quick stop at my mortgage company, I went across the street to talk to a realtor.
The realtor I met with was really nice and answered some questions that I had. However, in order to list my house for sale, Terry needs to sign off on it. Crap! He already told me that he didn't want to do a short sale and would rather just let the property foreclose. So, now I am waiting for the realtor to call me back. She left a message for Terry about the benefits of a short sale and I am hoping that she will be able to talk some sense into him. For now, my fingers are crossed. If he declines, I either have to find a lawyer or just accept a foreclosure.
